But a brilliant away support for a tough match.

There were heightened levels of anticipation leading into the first game of the season 2018-2019 for the U16 CE ROAD RUNNERS as it was against the renowned Viadana.
Leading into the game the omens looked good and the warm up was full of intensity.
The game started with a blast as the boys took immediate possession after the kick off, they played
through a couple of phases that ended with the familiar site of a Try, beating the opposition on the right wing to touch down in the corner, a great start that set the game tempo. The 1 st half the ROAD RUNNERS kept the two TRY, two conversion lead, 5 ñ 14.
Going into the 2 nd half with a significant lead, meant we went into the half time break full of
confidence.
In the 2 nd half, Viadana to their credit gave it everything, immediately scoring a TRY and a conversion, closing the gap to 12-14. Taken by surprise, the ROAD RUNNERS conceded another TRY (and conversion) to the ìbetterî organized adversary, who for the first time of the match had taken the lead, 19-14. In retaliation, CE fought back to score a TRY, unfortunately no conversion, making the score a 19-19 situation.
Viadana at this point pulled all the stops. The combination of a somewhat ìbetterî organized side (ball transmission, phase play and communication) and a CE side playing emotionally and sadly in the last 20 minutes of play much individualism saw a final match score of 39-19.
It was not a soft start to the 2018/ 19 season, and I will say the effort (1 st half) was a fantastic from
the lads, they never let their heads drop and kept going! They are a talented group of players who will only keep improving and I’m sure we will see many improvements in our U16 side in the future.
Thanks to all those who came down to support on Saturday, the noise was incredible!
Well done to the lads & thanks to the coaches, parents & club officials.
